It’s My Turn to Shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

I’ve been resting up. Hydrating. Carb loading. Updating my Wish List. Training, really … to be fully prepared for the biggest shopping day of the year. Nordstrom Icons got to shop two days ago. But now it’s my turn. The fashion baton has been passed from the big time fashion bloggers to little old me to cover fitness and athleisure. Guess what— there is tons of fitness and athleisure inventory in store and online. And I am going to go through it all with you for the next few weeks so that you are ready to shop when it’s your turn.

So double knot those laces, loosen up those muscles and get ready for my shopping workout.

This is me with my awesome Nordstrom stylist, Darien. She made shopping in the store such a breeze, so I highly recommend scheduling a stylist. And, you can easily do it online.

THE WARM-UP.

Like any big athletic event, I have been training for this day. I was an amateur Nordstrom shopper over the past decade, personally shopping this sale. I know the lay of the land. As soon as the sale preview was available online last week, I started updating my Wish List on Nordstrom.com. Then, early this morning, when I got access to actually shop the sale, I seamlessly moved my Wish List items into my shopping bag and checked out. And, it was that simple. Some of these items are already on their way to me. AH MAZZZ ING!

I also made an appointment to shop the sale with a stylist. You easily do this online. You can select a stylist if you have someone in mind, or one will be assigned to you. I worked with Darien this morning and she was incredibly helpful. Having her with me was a huge time saver. I had sent her my Wish List a few days earlier and she was able to pull all of the items that they had in the store. And those items were waiting for me in my dressing room when I arrived this morning. Darien was available to help get additional styles and sizes while I tried on the goods. Darien was able to help me with my online order as well. She told me what Wish List items I needed to purchase online because the KOP store didn't get them in.

THE MAIN EVENT.

On your mark, get set, GO!! Here are the FIT pieces that I am loving from my in-store try-ons. I will publish follow-up articles that cover sneakers, athleisure and fitness gear. And I am going to do a whole separate post on the HUGE Zella selection. Yes, lots of writing in my future…

I’m going to start STRONG with some of the Beyond Yoga pieces that I was most looking forward to. Beyond Yoga is high-end fitness. The clothes fit amazing. They are functional for your workout needs. And, they just feel so good on your body. Gone are the days of tight bra straps and waistbands that dig in in order to perform. I am wearing a medium in almost every Beyond Yoga piece I put on today. The blue leggings below are a size small just because the material has more stretch.

The Nordstrom in the King of Prussia Mall did not have the the Space Dye Square Neck Crop Tank in the color I wanted, but they had the blue and pink so I could try it on for size. I ordered the oatmeal tank online. The Caught in the Midi High Waist Leggings are such a dream. This set just the softest thing. I would probably do pilates and yoga in this set and nothing more intense because its just too gorgeous.

This is another set that I was really looking forward to putting on- the Beyond Yoga Lux High Waist Leggings and the First Class Crop Tank in this gorgeous blue print called “distressed navy”. And, it’s even better in person. I wasn’t sure how the color would translate but it really is beautiful. And I love the longer length of this crop tank. My long torso is almost fully covered in this tank. The length combined with the poly-spandex blend is just so flattering. This top has a double lining for some support but if you have anything bigger than a cup A, you will absolutely need a sports bra under it. Same with the Space Dye Square Neck Crop Tank above.

I threw on this super soft, light blue Beyond Yoga On the Down Low Tank Top to break up the set, if a crop tank or a matching set isn’t your thing.

These are two more of my Wish List items that I couldn’t wait to get on. The Twinkle Slim Racerback Sports Bra is one of the few sports bras that I left with today because I just love my Savvi bras and don’t find many other bras that I prefer. This bra is skimpy so it won’t work for the more endowed ladies. I love the overall fit of the metallic Twinkle High Waist Biker Shorts. The set is pretty, almost too pretty to sweat in, although the glisten will match the sparkle. Again, the fit, the feel and the comfort make this set another winner.

I added this Free People City Vibes Oversize T-Shirt to the sparkly Beyond Yoga set to break it up, tone it down and for a look that you can wear beyond your workout… get it, beyond yoga… sorry, I have been up since 4:30 am. This tee is meant to be oversized. I sized down to a small and it’s still so drapey and big, which I love about it. It’s one of my very favorites from the sale. A big tee with bikers is the way to go. I rarely buy the same thing in more than one color, but this tee for $29.90 may be worth it in all 3!

From Beyond Yoga to Alo. I find these brands to be very similar in the fit, quality, style and price. All the things I said about BY above, apply to Alo, too. My Alo leggings, bras and tanks are still some of my very favorites in my closet, most of which are part of this sale in new colors. I always wear a size medium in Alo.

I have and LOVE the Airlift High Waist 7/8 Leggings in a few colors. But this color (“shadow grey”) is just GORGE! I’ll take it in the bra, the leggings, the High Waist Biker Shorts (which I needed to order online) and the Soho Pullover. This Real Sports Bra is a low to medium support bra that will work for my smaller cup size but will not work alone for high intensity workouts for larger chested women.

I haven’t hopped on the neon trend yet until now. I LOVE the High Waist Biker shorts in the “pink lava” with the gray. Such a fun color because we are still smack in the middle of summer, people!

I cannot begin to describe how soft this Soho Pullover is. Just take my word and the peaceful smile on my face.

I was totally bummed that the Spanx Get Moving Skort was sold out on the first day of Icon access. I guess I wasn’t the only one looking forward to trying this booty shaping tennis skirt. But, I was eager to put on the other Spanx items that are part of the sale. Does the Booty Boosting Legging really deliver a lift? Head over to my IG to see the booty bumpin video. I’m usually not a fan of all black workout clothes because I use workout wear to add some color into my life. But this whole look from Spanx (AND the Nike sneakers) is such a sleek, cool look. Let’s start with the top which is the Go Lightly Crop Tank. It’s a silky, easy tank that comes in regular and plus sizes. And it’s a full coverage kind of “crop”, so essentially, just a short tank. I am wearing a size regular small.

The Booty Boost Active Leggings do all the things for your body. First, they give a nice shape to the behind. Second, they have this reinforced, rubbery (it feels almost like the material in a wet suit) tummy area that sucks you in. And third, these leggings just make the whole second half of your body look freggin awesome. I wouldn’t workout in them because the reinforced tummy doesn’t seem too functional or comfortable for fitness, but these are absolutely the most PERFECT legging to wear all day long and look HOT around town. I am wearing a size medium in these.

I am going to be doing a whole separate post on sneakers because most of my picks were not available in the store, but I am LOVING these Nike React Phantom Run Flyknit 2 Running Shoe in black with this look. While I wouldn’t run in these shoes because I need laces that I can tighten for my runs, I would rock these around for the ultimate cool comfort.

I wanted to love the Get Moving Shorts, especially because I wasn’t coming home with the Get Moving Skort, but honestly, I felt like I was wearing a diaper. I saw them on another blogger and she looked great in these so I definitely think its worth a try. They just didn’t work for me.

I was pleased that I loved the Sweaty Betty Fast Track Jacket in person because this kind of jacket is so functional for all of my fall and spring runs. This fall, I have several races that I will be training for— Gotta make up for lost time! The Sweaty Betty leggings and bras are not my go-to’s for fitness clothes (you can hear all about my “N Sale Misses” when I publish that article next week) but the brand has pieces that I do love, including this jacket (and those ski base layers, none of which are part of this sale… boo).

Lightweight jackets are my jam because you can easily shed them and tie them around your waist when your body heat kicks up during outdoor runs. The color, the double layer design, the armholes, the hood and the overall soft, moisture wicking fabric makes this jacket a beautifully functional piece of outdoor activewear.

I am waiting on a Nike bra that wasn’t in the store yesterday and I ordered online. I did throw on this other Nike bra.

If you need high impact support, I recommend this Swoosh Dri-FIT Racerback Sports Bra. It’s not the most comfortable but it will totally keep your girls from jumping around when your feet are. And this color is oh so pretty. Yes, I am aware of this muted-nuetral-earth-tone-color thing I have going on.

COOL-DOWN.
