WHAT I AM MOST EXCITED ABOUT FOR THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE 2021

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, hands down, is the biggest sale of the year. I am so excited to cover it and share all things fitness that are part of the sale. Earlier this week, the sale preview became available to everyone online. I have been shopping this sale personally for a decade now and this online preview is something new that Nordstrom started last year. It makes shopping way more civilized than in years past because you have plenty of time to plan your buy. The easiest way to do this is to add your favorite items into your Nordstrom.com wishlist. From there, you can easily move things into your shopping cart when you get access to shop. And if you get shut out of any favorite wishlist items, Nordstrom will notify you when they come back in stock (or people return, which happens at Nordstrom because of their incredible return policy).

Women’s fitness clothes, athleisure, sneakers, fitness equipment and clothing accessories like socks, underwear and sunglasses are my focus this year. Men’s performance clothes are really good this year, so I will be throwing some of that in there, too. I can shop the sale on July 14. To get early access, you need a Nordstrom card. Otherwise, everyone can shop the sale on July 28.

After perusing the preview all week, here are some Fitness Finds that I cannot wait to get my hands on.

WORKOUT CLOTHES.

Over the past year, I have really gotten to know good workout clothes, which I now consider my “work clothes”. (I do prefer my new work clothes to the uncomfortable heels, pencil skirts and suit jackets that I used to wear to work as a lawyer in New York City in my past life). As always, there is a great selection of Nordstrom’s own fitness clothing brand, Zella. My favorite part about Zella is the price tag. And with the sale, leggings are in the $30’s and sports bras are in the $20’s! The quality of Zella is good, the fit is ok and the styling is just eh. I am all about having fun with my workout clothes and am never really wowed by the patterns and styles of Zella. That being said, for basics, Zella is the way to go! Black leggings, bras, performance shirts- totally go with Zella. I plan to try on a bunch of these Zella pieces in person next week so that I can help you with fit.

So what is wowing me this year? Beyond Yoga! My top three workout set picks are from Beyond Yoga. I’m not a fan of matchy-matchy all of the time but these pieces are fun and would be great worn together or alone, or broken up with a tank.

This Beyond Yoga Space Dye Square Neck Crop Tank and the Caught in the Midi High Waist Leggings in Sandstone-Cream are gorgeous. I love the square neck and am a huge fan of the crop tanks for yoga and other hot classes. This set comes in two more colors, but I love this neutral oatmeal shade.

This Beyond Yoga Twinkle High Waist Biker Shorts and Twinkle Slim Racerback Sports Bra in this stunning gold color (also comes in black) are for those fancier workouts… ha!

The First Class Crop Tank and the Lux High Waist Leggings in this Distressed Navy color look so cool. I am curious to see the color in person.

I love to buy Alo Yoga at this sale. The quality of Alo is top-notch but with a higher price tag. So when Alo is on sale (which doesn’t happen often), I like to scoop it up. Usually a few Alo Yoga pieces are part of the sale. And this year, there is a gorgeous taupe color in my favorite leggings and tank. Add the biker shorts and we’re good.

These Alo High Waist Biker Shorts are only $37 with the sale price. This could be the very first item that I add to my cart when I get sale access. I have them in camo and know that the fit is great— nice high waist that doesn’t roll, no grabbing on the thighs. I also have and love this Alo Elevate Rib Tank. It’s a very flattering and supportive tank. There is a built in bra, but the girls with the bigger “girls” will want to add another bra under the tank for added support.

These are the Airlift High Waist 7/8 Leggings. I have them in Navy in the full length, and they are just so perfect. Alo is a brand that I wear my true-to-size, which is a medium.

There are a few Sweaty Betty pieces that I have my eye on this year. The Sweaty Betty leggings aren’t my favorite so they are not on my wish list, but I do have the Fast Track Jacket and the Breeze Long Sleeve Running Top for my early fall half marathon training days, and the Swifie Running Cap. New running gear helps push me out the door. Anyone else?

This Sweaty Betty Fast Track Jacket is on my list. I am curious about the thickness of this jacket so will wait to check it out in person.

This Breeze Long Sleeve Running Tee because one can never have enough long sleeve running tees.

This Swifie Running Cap because I have been searching for a good running hat and want to give this one a try.

Lastly, as far as fitness clothes go, I am really pumped that the Spanx Booty Boost Double Layer Skirt is part of the sale. This skirt has been popping up on my Instagram feed all summer long and I’m excited to give it a try, at a lesser price. I also want to try the Spanx Booty Boost Active Leggings as I break my own, “no-more-black-leggings rule”. Anything that can give the booty a boost is a winner.

ATHLEISURE.

If you are like me, you bought way too many sweats and lounge sets last year but just can’t help to look at them now… just in case … I am throwing in a few of my favorites.

This one is so cute from Alo. I love the color. I love the high-waisted pant, the crop shirt and I am hoping to love the feel of the ribbed fabric.

These Wide Leg Track Pants from BP could be the ultimate score from the sale for $31, or they could be the ultimate fail. I will keep you posted.

Obviously, this BP Oversize Quarter-Zip Fleece Sweatshirt is a no brainer since the Olympics start in two weeks. I cannot wait to cheer on our team… perhaps in this sweatshirt :).

SNEAKERS.

Let’s talk sneakers because it’s 2021 and the days of being uncomfortable in your shoes are long over. I love the selection that is part of the sale. (Although I think my husband might throw me out of the house if I bring home one more pair. Sorry, Eddie… sale and sneakers… you lose!)

I’ve had sneaker envy recently when I’ve seen people wearing their pretty On Clouds. While On Clouds are not my favorite for running, these Cloudflow Running Shoes would be great for all the new dance cardio classes I see in my future.

The soft colors of these work as a good neutral for summer and fall.

These Nikes are another good neutral sneaker with a fun twist.

When I got my new running sneakers in March, I was on the fence about the Asics Kayanos. I really liked them but just couldn’t break away from the Brooks that I have been running in for years. Now that I can get the Asics on sale, it will be great to have these as another running shoe as I start my training.

I also really like the look of the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus that are part of the sale because there is nothing like a shiny new pair of bright white kicks.

If you are a P448 fan, there are a few pairs that are part of the sale. I may try them on in the store to see what all the fuss is about. But I’m not sold yet. And I like the look of the Vionic Shayla Sneaker but again plan to try these in person next week.

FITNESS EQUIPMENT.

I was hopeful that good fitness equipment would be part of the sale this year because of the get-fit-at-home-trend but was totally let down. Sure, there is a Theragun (actually there are two Theragun packages that are part of the sale), but I wanted the Bala products, some yoga mats, and maybe some of other fun fitness gadgets to be included. But, here is what I have on my wish list.

I am grabbing a bunch of these Slowtide Yoga and Fitness Towels because I have been doing a lot of “hot” yoga and sculpting classes recently and see the value of a yoga towel more than ever before. Plus, the Slowtide prints are so cute.

I am totally intrigued by this self-cleaning water bottle by LARQ. I am all for anything that makes life easier and a water bottle that cleans itself - and the water in it- well that sounds too good to be true. (Where were you, LARQ, when I was busy cleaning 3 babies’ bottles over the past decade?) The reviews are mixed but mostly because this bottle is heavy. I just have to try this out and will be back with a full review after some use.

I am a fan of the fanny packs for running. After my run, I just throw the pack in my big handbag or pool bag so that I don’t even have to transfer the stuff in the pack. I think this one by Herschel Supply Company is cute and a good neutral.

Those are just some of the highlights from my wish list. The good news is that you can keep updating your wish list until you can shop the sale.
