Working Wellness Yoga for Your Kids

Yoga is one of those activities that can and should be added to any kind of training program. The benefits of yoga are countless. And when it comes to kids, there are specific benefits such as better muscle control, increased concentration, proper breathing, more flexibility, and improved balance. So many middle school and high school sports teams are calling on the yoga instructors from Working Wellness Yoga to bring yoga onto their fields during practice to improve their athletes’ performance and to prevent injury.

Working Wellness Yoga is a new, local company that began during the pandemic when everyone was stuck at home. The founders, Gaby Evers and Amy Orcutt, started Working Wellness Yoga to bring virtual yoga and mindfulness to corporate clients’ employees working from home. Working Wellness Yoga has now grown to include six local yoga instructors, a mindfulness facilitator and a nutritionist. And while their virtual corporate wellness and yoga programs continue, the company has expanded to include more in-person classes now. And a big part of those is teen and youth yoga instruction.

Working Wellness Yoga is the company to do it! That’s because several of the in-house yoga instructors have tons of experience with kids. Gaby Evers became a certified yoga instructor when her son suffered a sports-related injury and she wanted to teach him muscle control to get back to playing. When he returned to the field, Gaby often worked with her son’s sports teams to teach yoga to young male athletes. Amy Orcutt is the Head Coach of the Conestoga High School Girls Lacrosse team. She has always practiced yoga with her athletes. But now she is bringing yoga to other teams in the area with the help of her fellow instructors at Working Wellness Yoga.

Regan Marscher is the Head Coach of the Conestoga High School Field Hockey team and uses yoga to prevent injury in her athletes. Allegra Dotson is a special education teacher who specializes in working with students with emotional and behavioral needs. She understands first hand how the yoga breath can help children slow down and neutralize their central nervous system. Amanda Ferraioli is a second grade teacher so teaching children yoga comes very naturally to her. This summer, Working Wellness Yoga ran an all day, 8-week program for kids K-12 in the Great Valley School District. Clearly, the ladies at Working Wellness Yoga know a thing or two about working with kids.

Yoga classes taught to a group of youth focus on alignment, body awareness, balance, flexibility, focus and breath. The classes teach concentration and give the kids a chance to slow down and relax. The youth yoga classes are slower for a reason. The instructors at Working Wellness Yoga want to make yoga enjoyable and fun for the kids. They do this with their music and their energy.

If you are interested in bringing yoga to your child, you can find more information here. Working Wellness Yoga also does youth yoga workshops, pop-ups and tween and teen yoga birthday parties. Be sure to get in touch with Gaby or Amy to learn more.
