Studio to Street: Everyday Looks from Our Favorite Activewear Brands

While I am showing you my “gym OOTD” every day this month over on my Instagram, this blog post isn’t about leggings and sports bras. This blog post is all about the stylish, comfortable and gorgeous everyday clothes from our favorite activewear brands - just in time for those colder temps, which we just started to get a taste of this week.

I get my activewear and my everyday clothes in one place. That’s because activewear brands know we value comfort and fit, which they have done so well with their workout clothes. Using the same coveted fabrics, activewear brands have been creating some really fabulous clothes to take us beyond the gym. So yeah, for me there is no need to look any further.

I was at the new Lululemon in Suburban Square recently grabbing yet another ribbed Align legging (they’re so good). But I was distracted away from the wall of leggings by the variety and cuteness of the “regular clothes” in the store. After all, I have plenty of leggings. So I brought several on-trend cargo pants, flattering long sleeve tees (that weren’t Swiftly shirts), and beautiful sweaters into the fitting room with me.

This sweater is one of those swoon worthy pieces. No one would ever suspect it’s from an activewear brand. I love the long billowy sleeves that perfectly drape when pushed up. The cross detail along the bottom of the sweater can be worn in the front or the back. If I really wanted to take this look from the studio to the street, I would throw it over super high waisted leggings, add a boot, and I’m ready for the rest of my day.

But I love the monochromatic way to complete the look with another one of Lululemon’s everyday pieces. These pants are made of a cotton blend, Utilitech fabric that has good stretch for a movable fit. They are high waisted so they pair perfectly with the shorter length of the sweater. The pants zip in the front but have an elastic waistband in the back - another detail showing that comfort prevails in the design of Lululemon’s everyday clothes.

I love the relaxed and casual feel of these cargo pants with a more feminine and delicate sweater. While these pants come in gray and brown, in my opinion, a winter white, like this ivory color, elevates any outfit in the most neutral way. And this color looks great with the fall hues you may find at a pumpkin patch.

I’ve talked about these pants from Alo on several occasions now. That’s because they are a staple that every modern female needs. I cannot quite explain the comfort of these pants to you in words. You need to feel them, wear them, experience them for yourself. The waistband is elastic. The front is pleated. The pant is wide and flowy. But the star of this show is the fabric. It’s a Polyester-Spandex blend that’s described by Alo as “swishy” but it’s not a noisy swish. It’s an elegant and graceful swoosh. The Spandex in the fabrication blend gives great stretch to these pants.

They are amazingly comfortable to wear to work, yet they are cool and chic enough to glide you into the trendiest restaurant. Plus they are incredibly versatile. Pair them with sneakers and wear them for your weekend fall festivities, like a hayride!

While the Alo website recommends sizing down, I say stay true to size for an even larger impact of the wide leg. But I’d pick a closer fitting top against the volume of the pant leg. I love this one.

For this blog post, I picked this boxy button-down, one type of shirt that I don't yet own in a crop silhouette. All jokes aside, this is such a fun and unique shirt that will also look amazing with super high waisted jeans. I see myself living in it all season long. Plus, it’s moisture wicking and stretchy and has all the stuff! This button down is meant to be washed in your machine and not taken to the dry cleaner. If only all work clothes were created by activewear brands. Well, maybe we are moving in that direction.

I saw these pants from Addison Bay at a recent event I attended at Skirt in Bryn Mawr. Everyone needs a fabulous pattern pant! And my wardrobe was lacking in that department. The pants are part of a set (sold separately) but the matching top was way too much for me. So I grabbed one of the adorable graphic tees from Skirt. Mine is from Zadig and Voltaire. This look is way more my speed.

This pant is everything. I call it a fancy track pant. The pattern is so much fun yet neutral. (They also come in navy if you love the pant but aren’t quite sold on the pattern yet). I love the split flare leg. The front leg seams give a more polished look, but don’t be fooled. These pants are 100% athlesiure. I could easily run a race or play pickleball in these … but I won’t :).

I have been loving the Vuori everyday clothes lately. This summer, I lived in this and this and this. Both the activewear and the everyday sections of my closet are dominated by this brand. And that’s all because of the renowned Vuori fabrics. Vuori takes luxuriously soft to a whole new level. And I am sucking it all up. But can you blame me?

This latest fabric and style of pant has been my go-to. It’s called the Villa and it’s described as “lightweight, silky soft performance stretch made from recycled materials.” The wide, gathered, elastic waistband is the signature design detail of the Villa. It’s great to tuck shirts into (such as the Villa tank, also a favorite of mine), and it hits nice and high, the way I like it. I already have the Villa in the short, the wide leg pant, and now the jogger. I do wish the jogger was a little longer on my 5’10” frame. But I don’t mind it for a chill, laid back look, especially when we are experiencing warmer autumn temps.

You can’t go wrong with a Vuori 3/4 zip to take you from the studio to the street. It’s form fitting without being too tight. I love this rusty, brown color called Hazelnut for fall. It’s different than anything I own and will go nicely with other neutral colors.

I, myself, have been influenced by IVL lately. This fashion forward, somewhat new-to-the-scene, activewear brand drops new collections about every month or so, and when they share their latest drops on IG, I eat it up. I seriously want every single piece they show me! They dropped their latest collection this past Thursday and I found myself immediately adding to my cart. Like I need more activewear! But they do have these cool joggers and Sherpas that I actually do need (the word “need” being loosely defined). This beautiful shade of burgundy was part of the previous, early fall drop, and I love it for this season.

I like to pair IVL’s every day clothes like the Sherpa and the jogger with their activewear like this onesie. My daily uniform is always some form of activewear under “regular clothes”. Everything IVL puts out is so stylish, so when I rock my IVL pieces, I don’t feel like I am gross and coming right from the gym. I feel trendy and cool wearing IVL all day long.

If you are curious about the adorable backdrop of these photos, you have to check out Maple Acres Farm in Plymouth Meeting. It’s a small little farm with an amazing market. They have pumpkins, local produce, hayrides, farm animals, and it’s right around the corner. And yes, I was actually shopping for my family while I was taking these pictures. It’s called multitasking, people!

You can click on the pictures to shop all of the looks in this post. A bunch of these are on sale through the LTK App, so make sure you are following me at LTK under “fitness finds”. The links are commissionable for me, at no additional cost to you. Rest assure, I only write about products that I genuinely use and love, and that will never change!
