June Studio Tour: Where I’m Going for the Last Two Weeks

It’s probably not a surprise to hear that the shore week is my favorite week of the tour. Did I just add it as an excuse to grab the kids and run to the Jersey shore as soon as school lets out? Maybe. But June happens to be my favorite summer month at the shore because it’s not yet crowded, at least during the week. Which means, I can more readily secure a spot at a coveted fitness class down the shore. But, it is still the shore so if you want to go to any of the places I feature here, book them in advance, or risk getting shut out! This year, I am going to all new studios for me and visiting Avalon, Margate and Ocean City for the six shore workouts I am sharing with you all. And while in Ocean City, I am staying at the newest boutique hotel to hit the Jersey Shore. And I’lll be providing lots of content at this adorable new spot. I heard there is even a beautiful rooftop for some yoga…

WEEK 3: JERSEY SHORE

I am traveling on Monday, so I’m going to spare my family from me running off to a class the second I get down the shore. I’ll be taking my first shore class on Tuesday, June 18 at the brand new Lagree studio in Margate. Yes, you heard that correctly. Margate has a Lagree studio as of last month. Jamie Promislo, of Revel Ride (the popular spin studio in Philly and Margate), opened a new Pilates spot this summer and it houses 14 Lagree Micro machines. The portable reformers can be moved off to the side for other types of mat Pilates and sculpt classes at Revel. I had to take a Reformer class, however, so I’m going at 5 pm that day. Sorry kids- mama’s gotta leave the beach early on Tuesday! Jaime currently has limited Reformer classes on the schedule but plans to add more as she hires more instructors. So if you are a Lagree certified instructor who wants to live at the shore for the summer, reach out to Revel asap! Sounds like a pretty nice way to spend the summer.

Come Wednesday morning, I am heading over to Avalon for Ship Shape Bootcamp at 8 am. I love these outdoor, bootcamp style, community classes that many of the shore towns hold in the summer. While most are only on the weekends, Ship Shape happens every Wednesday and Friday during the week, too. And after bootcamp, I am running to Avalon Fitness for Cardio, Strength and Core. I’m taking this class on Wednesday, but I’ll be posting about it later in the week. When I’m in a shore town, I’m going to double up on the workouts in that town to make travel easier for me.

On Thursday, I’ll be taking two classes in Ocean City. The first one is at Driven for Sweat and Stretch at 7 am. And at this point in the tour, I’ll be praying for a class that is more stretch and less sweat. Then I’ll be heading to Diamond Barre for their Sculpt class at 8:30 am. I’m really excited to visit both of these new studios for me and workout in Ocean City (which wasn’t part of my shore tour last year).

And on my last physical day at the shore, I’m back in Margate for Susan Bacharach’s 60 minute Core Power Sculpt class at her studio, Core Power Barre. I’ve been following Susan on Instagram (she’s a good follow), and although I used to have a house in Margate, I’ve never taken her legendary class at the shore.

Over the weekend I won’t physically be at the shore, but I’ll continue to share on my Instagram the classes that I took while I was there. And my body will welcome the much needed rest before I start the last leg of the tour.

WEEK 4: PHILLY AREA SUBURBS

Despite the travel to the shore, this last week of the tour will definitely log the most miles on my car because I will literally be all over the Philadelphia area— from Bucks County, to Ambler, to Lafayette Hill and across the river to Cherry Hill, before returning to the Main Line to finish the month out at Lifetime in Ardmore. So despite the exhaustion that might set in around this time of the month, I know that changing the locations like this will keep me on my toes!

On Monday, I am so excited to head to Newtown, Bucks County. I’m all about a vibe and Studio Lit is the vibiest vibe mixed with lots of sweat. This infrared studio houses all kinds of classes (some of which I have featured before), but I’ll be there for their trampoline class. Talk about a vibe. I can’t explain it and hope that by showing you this class on Instagram, I will do it justice. I've been watching Lit Up for a while now and am so excited to finally be in the room with Brie Applegate leading a packed class of sweaty jumpers! This is another IYKYK kinda class. And I can’t wait to report back.

On Tuesday, I’ll be back in Bucks County and back in the heat… at Heat Fitness actually. Heat Fitness is the first infrared gym in the area. So I’ll be doing their signature group class called “Heat” which is strength and conditioning in the infrared heat. Sounds intense! The owner, Jenny Abraham, just so happens to be the owner of Studio Lit. So in between my Monday workout and my Tuesday class, I guess I’ll just be over here hydrating with Liquid IV.

On Wednesday, I’ll be leaving the Main Line for Ambler, which is close to where I am grew up. There is a yoga studio there now (it wasn’t there when I lived there) called Invert Your World that a few of you recommended when I surveyed the audience. And while I have taken spin class there before I have yet to take a yoga class, which is what they are best known for. So I’m going to a yoga sculpt class.

My plan right now for Thursday is to get to Cherry Hill for a boxing class at RockBox Cherry Hill. This workout is a boxing and kickboxing combo class. Sounds like fun and I’m game!

on Friday, I’ll be visiting my friends at TruFit Pilates in Phoenixville. I told you I’ll be everywhere this week! I’ll be taking a more advanced, athletic reformer Pilates class that incorporates weights and kettlebells on the reformer. Again, more fun for me!

And for my last weekend of the month… my last weekend of the tour, I’ll be starting in Lafayette Hill on Saturday morning at Reya Bar and Yoga for their signature Fusion barre/ Pilates class. And I’ll finish the month back on the Main Line at LifeTime Ardmore on Sunday with my friend, Andrea Sarbacker for her popular Strong HIIT class. Because if anyone is going to motivate me to finish the month strong, it’s going to be Andrea! And you all can join me as I celebrate a busy month touring the area’s fitness spots by signing up for my last class of the month for FREE using the SweatNow app.

And be sure to check back in right here when the tour is over because I’ll have a bunch of fun fitness awards to give out to the many studios that hosted me in June.

See ya on the the other side.
