Part 2: My Creatine Journey So Far
Last week, I told you why you should make creatine part of your routine in Part 1: I’m Taking Creatine and Ladies, I Think You Should Too. This week, I’m diving deeper into my 30 day creatine journey so far. In the first post, I highlighted the strong evidence from my wellness circle supporting the benefits of creatine, especially for women. But now, I was faced with the daunting decision of choosing the right creatine supplement.
I’ve been bombarded with countless ads on social media, especially Instagram, showcasing all kinds of creatine products. It can be so overwhelming. I wanted my creatine experience to be successful, but the key to success lay in selecting the right product. And I didn’t want to waste money on the wrong one.
When I learned that Arrae had come out with a creatine product that directly addressed my concerns about creatine as a woman, I was intrigued. Arrae is a well-known supplement company that I trust. They are probably best known for MB-1, coined the “#1 faux-zempic” (that’s a post for another time). But Arrae recently launched Tone, the first creatine supplement made for women.
So, what makes Tone "made for women"? Well, in addition to the creatine monohydrate — the most widely recommended form of creatine — Tone includes two special ingredients that set it apart. It contains Slimbiotics, a plant-based postbiotic designed to enhance nutrient absorption, making it easier for your body to get the most out of the supplement. It also has ginger root, which is known for its digestive benefits.
But the real standout feature of Tone is its promise to provide a creatine experience without the typical bloat. Many creatine supplements can cause puffiness due to water being drawn under the skin. Tone works differently — drawing water directly into the muscles, without the uncomfortable bloating. That was a key selling point for me, and it’s exactly why I chose to invest my time and money into it.
After using Tone consistently for a month, I can confidently share my experience with you all now. And I fell good about recommending it as a creatine supplement that works well for women and addresses some of the common concerns we face.
Tone comes in a gummy form, and I take 3-4 a day for that sweet spot of 5g of creatine monohydrate. It tastes pretty sweet, and while I don’t love sweets in the morning, it’s easy to stomach. And I’ve heard it’s way better tasting than other creatine products. The reason for the sweetness is that carbs and sugar support absorption and smooth digestion. I like to take my dose in the morning before I workout because I like the energy creatine gives me. But you can also take it after you exercise to help with recovery. It’s important to be consistent when taking creatine — if I could only remember to take it every day… but creatine itself will help me with that part!
I learned that creatine works best when paired with resistance training, a protein rich diet and proper hydration. But creatine doesn’t need to be taken with just heavy lifting. Creatine supports all activities. So I take it every day and not just on the days I am lifting.
How do I feel after a month on creatine? I feel great! Like I’ve said before, I wish I had started it sooner. For one, I love the increased energy that I have at the gym. I don’t drink coffee or energy drinks. And while I get good sleep at night, I was often dragging at the gym towards the middle of the session. But with creatine, I have noticed an immediate difference in how I feel while I’m exercising. I’m ready to add more weight and more reps to my workout, which will in turn give me better results from exercising. And in just a month, I am noticing the physical effects of creatine, as well. I see you, muscles. I knew you were in there.
So today, I am proof that adding 3-5g of creatine daily has not caused me to gain weight or bloat, and I can even see and feel the benefits already. If you are still concerned about bloating, Arrae has a great product, called Bloat, that you can pair with Tone. The recommendation is to take Tone for 3 months for full results. I am not there yet but will keep you posted as my journey continues.
It’s said that in month one, you will feel it. You’ll have more energy and more power when you lift. In month two, you will start to see it. Those lean muscles will be more apparent. And in month three, you will fine tune the results for even more benefits. The timing of this 2-part creatine series could not be more perfect with summer just about three months away. So if you plan on ordering Tone now, I have a code for you— use code BROOKEG15 and get Tone for 15% off. And you’re totally gonna want to sign up for the subscription plan (wink, wink).
If you’re a numbers person want to track your creatine journey with real data, invest in a Hume Health Body Pod — the world’s first portable body composition analyzer — to watch your muscle mass number grow, thanks to creatine.
