I’m All Set in the SET Active Activewear Sets (well, that’s a mouthful)

When two people mentioned to me how good SET Active is within days of each other, I knew I needed to give this L.A.-based brand a try… immediately! So I ordered a few pieces from each of their activewear styles so that I could educate myself and my readers on this activewear brand that everyone seems to be talking about.

It’s not just me anymore. Gone are the days when you wear your leggings only to the gym. Fitness fashion is now part of every day life. Chanel even based an entire fashion show on fitness recently! People are buying activewear as their everyday clothes because they are comfortable, functional and even beautiful, especially, if you are talking about SET Active.

SET Active is for the woman who won’t sacrifice style in any part of her life, even a sweat sesh. The idea behind this newer activewear brand is to get the basics and mix and match them for endless outfit possibilities. If you are going for a monochrome look, (which they recommend) pick the bottom (a legging or short) and then add a sports bra, a top, sweats or loungewear for a complete look. They even sell underwear in a lot of the hues if you decide to take the term “matchy-matchy” even further. While SET has your basic black, the star of the brand is their colors. They have “Core” hues that are always available and refreshed from time to time. They drop new, “Limited Edition” colors regularly that also sell out regularly. If a color you want is sold out, have no fear. A new, even more stunning shade will be dropping soon, I promise! Just get on their email list to be sure to learn when a new hue drops.

SET Active is perfect for the gal who typically only has black leggings in her drawer but is ready to dip her toe in some color. I find their colors to be gorgeous but muted enough to give you a neutral look, especially if you are wearing all one shade. “Monochrome colors are made to match.” You can wear this brand and only this brand and have tons of workout and lifestyle outfit options as a result. For someone who is overhauling their fitness fashion, look no further. You could fill your entire activewear drawer with SET alone and be the best dressed woman at the gym.

Aside from just looking pretty, their clothes get 4 stars for function from me. Made to perform, the SET Active fabrics are a dream. They are soft, stretchy and flattering, yet substantial enough to keep you covered and secure so you only need to worry about how you are going to do 60 seconds of burpees without a strategic pause to pull your leggings up.

So let’s break down the three types of SET Active sets. I came for the SculptFlex. This proprietary fabric is what put the brand on the map and what I was told that I had to try. It’s their most compressive fabric. And it’s ribbed, which I absolutely love. I am a texture girl so I tend to gravitate towards the rib sets. Plus, it’s forgiving. The rib on the SculptFlex leggings and shorts is strategically placed to also function as an extra hold at the right spots. Genuis! These bottoms give that bottom of yours the shape you are trying to achieve with all those deadlifts. Once you get the leggings up, there is zero movement. These puppies are there to fully support any high impact workout so bring on the running, the jumping, and the ups and downs of a HIIT workout.

I bought my SculptFlex set in the limited edition color, Haze, which is a dark shade of gray. Currently, SculptFlex is offered in Heartthrob (red), Espresso (dark brown), Blue Lagoon (light blue), Pebble (a lighter gray), and Onyx (SET’s black). While there is one style of legging and one style of bike short in the SculptFlex fabric, the variety comes in the tops. I got the Box Cut Bra, but there are long-sleeves, crop tops, one-shoulders, and cami’s. Oh, and they have a flare-leg onesie, which I didn’t try but imagine it to be one of the most flattering onesies on the market because of this fabric.

While I love the leggings, the SculptFlex bike shorts weren’t my favorite. I found these shorts to be too tight around the thigh, which is never good. And I even sized up to a medium in the shorts (I wear a small in the leggings). So the SculptFlex bike shorts went back, but I’ll be living in my new SculptFlex legging set all year round!

While I love the SculptFlex, I am going to put the SportBody fabric up there as my #1 pick from SET. This fabric has that smoothing effect that is beautiful and flattering. Typically fabrics that feel and look this pretty are just for the low impact workouts, but not SportBody. SportBody is made for the high impact stuff. The fabric is cooling, sweat wicking and breathable. When SET Active had their birthday sale earlier this week, I had to order a few more pieces from the SportBody collection in Oxford, which is a rich navy that looks almost black. The color is stunning. This fabric comes in a few earth tones like Dugout (a soft tan), Alpine (an earthy green) and Summit (what I am wearing below).

The styles are plentiful in the SportBody fabric. There is a legging and a short, a flare legging, a skirt, and a long and short onesie. Zippers, cut-outs and cap sleeves don this collection. I mean, these clothes are actually too pretty to sweat in. I would prefer to wear this top to coffee, brunch or around town on the weekends. But I like knowing that I could do a HIIT workout in it. Now that is a well rounded outfit!

LuxForm closes out the SET Active activewear. This is their second-skin, barely-there fabric. But it still gives great coverage. This buttery soft fabric is best suited to be worn as athlesiure or for the lower impact workouts. I am absolutely obsessed with the current LuxForm colors, Ink being my favorite. I also love the Cap Sleeve Scoop Bra. It’s unlike anything I have in my abundant activewear collection. It’s supportive enough to be a bra but it has an adorable cap sleeve. This fabric also comes in tons of styles. There is even a long-sleeve short onesie, if that’s your thing, and a crop cardi that’s my thing.

While I am here for the activewear, I also had to check out the sweats, the socks, the underwear, and the basics which include tanks, tees, and long sleeves. There are bottom basics such as "easy shorts” and “easy pants” which are looser fitting styles. There is loungewear that’s giving a polished woman of leisure. And there is even sleepwear from this brand. All with the same goal in mind - to build many complete monochromatic looks. So not only could you overhaul your activewear drawer with SET Active, you could refresh your entire closet with this stylish brand.

And I’ve saved the best part for last. The price. While the quality of this brand is right up there with the other premium activewear brands, the prices of some items are significantly less. Leggings cost $72 instead of $130 (Lulu is really getting up there). So be sure to click on the links and pictures in this post and give SET Active a try. And if you purchase anything using these links, I will make a small commission, at no additional cost to you. While they didn’t have a code for me to share with you all (I tried), first timers can get 15% off their order by subscribing to the email list, which you will want to do anyway to learn about all the new SET Active color drops.
