It’s Finally Sweater Weather: Post- Workout Looks That Give You the “I Just Showered Look.”

Who is ready for sweater weather already? I love this extended Indian summer that we have been having here in the Northeast this month, but I am ready to be all cozied up in my cable knits in front of the fire already! (On the mid October day that I took theses pictures, it was in the 80’s. Not exactly ideal for a fall photo shoot).

A chunky, cozy sweater has to be the best thing in my closet right now. I love a cardigan to throw on over anything. Literally, anything. Like your workout clothes! Seriously, a cardigan and a pair of boots can take you right from a yoga class to lunch. From pilates to the office. From boot camp to boot shopping. No time to shower and fuss? No problem. Who the heck has that kind of time anyway? A little dry shampoo, some mascara and a cardigan, and you are good to go. Here are some of my favorite post workout looks that will have you looking as fresh as if you just stepped out of the shower instead of the studio.

A cardigan is an easy way to conceal whatever you got going on under there. I took all of these pictures in just my leggings and sports bra. With a tie cardigan, just secure that band and bam! There are so many fun and versatile tie cardigans out there that I had a hard time choosing. I included a few splurge worthy ones just because the holidays are around the corner. Put one of these babies on your wish list.

Proof that I just had my workout clothes under all of my looks in this article!

This cardigan from Mother is a fan favorite. The very subtle, cheeky text on that back leaves no mistake as to who I am.. and why exactly I have no time to shower after I work out! The fringe adds another fun element to this Fair Isle look. The sweater is made of a cotton/poly blend and is soft and cozy.

Sunnies and a headband do a great job of faking a “I took time to get ready” look. And an over the knee boot can elevate any look immediately! I love this style from Stuart Weitzman because they are clunkier and durable. I always opt for these if I am doing a lot of city walking. And they hold up great in all kinds of weather.

Let’s talk about this bag! Yes, its a great gym bag because it’s roomy and the neoprene is WASHABLE. But it’s so stinking cute (without actually being a smelly gym bag) that I want to use it for tennis (yep, it fits a racquet with PLENTY of room to spare), the gym and every other element of my life! Don’t mind if I do.

Be sure to finish reading this article because I will be sharing a discount code for this bag at the end.

This is another easy tie cardigan that is beautiful. This one is great for year round because it’s a cotton/cashmere blend so it works great on those cooler summer nights, as well as dropping fall temps. Bonus: it’s on sale right now!

Ever since 2020, I am all about color! Give me all of the colors all of the time. And this gorgeous cardigan from Farm Rio does just that. The fall palette of magenta and forest green and mustard yellow is so captivating that no one will even notice that you still have gym clothes on underneath. The longer length, puff sleeve at the cuff and floral pattern make this cardigan a true stunner.

These boots are bringing the 90’s back without going all in with Dr. Martens. I love this brand because they are waterproof and made to withstand all kinds of weather. Gone are the days when I spend money on shoes that are uncomfortable or too delicate to handle a few rain drops or snow flakes. I need functional fashion, all day every day now! And Aquatalia boots are just that and totally worth the price.

For years, the Free People Swim Too Deep sweater with leggings and boots have been my uniform from January through March. And now the genius design team at Free People, made a it into a cardigan! And it’s just as good. While I have the regular sweater in cream and rust (because I bought them back before 2020 when I chose only neutral colors), I went for pink in the cardigan. Free People offers a ton of colors in this staple piece. The laid back, super slouchy look is sexy and comfy and just fits perfectly with that messy bun, I-just-got-off-the-pilates-reformer look.

The next two cardigans are for those days when you have more serious things to do after your yoga class. This belted cardigan from Rebecca Taylor has sophistication. It’s feminine and dainty. I love the scallop trim, the looped belt and the front pockets.

I paired this pretty cardigan with my favorite Glove Boots from Everlane and this gorgeous bag from Bembien.

This next sweater is an investment piece, but it’s so classic that you will have it forever. And you will want to wear it always. I absolutely love the texture of the mixed cable knit… especially that gorgeous collar.

I paired it with the same Bembien bag because I love to play with different textures for added interest.

I added a more rugged boot like this one to spice up this look but any classic boot would go nicely with this lovely sweater.
