A Brand We Already Know and Love Brings Us Activewear Now
All the brands are jumping on the activewear train as of late. Leggings are as much a staple to a wardrobe as a pair of jeans. And sports bras have become “everyday” bras as comfort is chosen above all else. There is so much variety out there now that it makes my job really fun. Brands we know and love have recently launched new activewear lines. And I was thrilled to learn from my Pilates instructor (who is also in the fashion industry) that one of my favorite sustainable clothing and accessory brands had also jumped on board.

Everlane is makes stylish and modern clothes with high quality and sustainable materials, using ethical practices. I learned about Everlane about five years ago when Gwyneth shared a little loafer that was under $100 and her new obsession. I ordered the loafer and while I didn’t end up keeping it, a bunch of the other stylish and affordable pieces that I added to my cart in that shopping session are still favorites of mine.
Everlane is also well known for being transparent about pricing. Their stylish and high quality pieces are affordable because they cut the traditional retail mark-up. They are one of the few brands that tell us what it costs to make the clothes and then offer them to us without the normal mark-up. They publish what goes into the cost of each item on their website. For example, the Perform Legging, which is Everlane’s basic (and freaking awesome- see below) performance legging costs $68, a price much lower than comparable, top quality leggings. Within that price, $11.19 is attributed to materials, $1.60 to hardware, $2.90 to labor, $4.42 to duties and $0.41 to transport, totalling $20.52 to make. Everlane is educating their customers and making us all smarter shoppers. We can safely assume that other high-end activewear brands’ leggings cost something very similar to make but are then marked up to over $100. It makes you rethink it all, right?!
But enough about how awesome Everlane is as a company. You probably already know that. So let’s get into their new activewear pieces because I am really excited about the fit, the quality and the function of what I tried.
So let’s start with those awesome $68 Perform Leggings. At first glance, they look and feel just like, if not better, other top performance brands’ leggings. They feel soft, light weight and moveable. They have moisture wicking properties. The fit is almost like a second skin with a comfortable amount of compression. They are made from 58% recyclable nylon.
They come in two lengths (ankle and full) and the full length is long enough on me. The high waist hits in just the right place and when I tested out these leggings in a few high impact classes last weekend, they stayed put. No sagging, no rolling and they felt light and breathable as my body temperature rose. They dried really quick and I stayed in them beyond class, probably way longer than I should have! They are just so comfortable and so stinking (in a non-smelly way) cute! I am a huge fan of this legging.
I purchased what looks like the only print currently available, but they have a nice selection of colors. Especially the Orchid color that I am wearing below which has me feeling all the spring vibes. I really like the Dark Mint and the Mocha colors, as well. The latest color selection is part of the newer, updated Perform 24/7 Legging.
I love the shape and fit of the sports bra. It’s the same shape, with the low curved back and thick straps, as Everlane’s everyday cotton bra. Not only is this sports bra very comfortable (I would work out in it, wear it all day and even sleep in it- though not in that order) but the support is great. I have a smaller cup size, but I imagine it would still be supportive enough for a medium impact workout with a larger cup size.
So those are the activewear basics (i.e., a legging and a bra). Let’s build from these two pieces that I give five out of five stars. I went with a size medium in both the bra and the legging, as the reviews said the line runs small. I’m not sure I agree. I’d be curious to try the small legging when I order again because I think it would work. I would stick with the medium bra, which is my true to size.
