Ready. Set. Go, Kids! Head Back to School in Style.

It’s still been really hot and muggy here on the east coast this week but the kids started school so I’m ready for you, Fall! And, I can see that those cooler early fall days are just on the horizon. I caught a glimpse of the most perfect evening last night at field hockey practice. We’ll soon be emptying the kids’ drawers of bathing suits and shorts and replacing them with the longer layers. So I enlisted my kids to help you prepare for the transition with two of our favorite kid brands.

Rylee + Cru has long been a favorite in our house for the days when we need special clothes (i.e. mom picks their outfits)— family photos or a party. So you can imagine my excitement, when I found out that Rylee + Cru has a new activewear line for the kids… and the moms! This adorable brand is bringing us the play clothes and we are all here for it! (You can shop each look by clicking on the image).

My kids did a great job testing the clothes for functionality since they rarely sit still.

I knew my kids would be happy about their new digs when I pulled them from the box. The fabric is insanely soft and cozy and made from an elastane and polyester blend… just like mom’s activewear.

The clothes are substantial and of highest quality. Each piece will be sure to make it through all the runs and jumps and play that my kids will put them through. And in turn, the many, many washes that will follow.

My favorite thing about Rylee + Cru is their laid back, cool style and their neutral color palette. It’s nice for the kids to wear something other than bright colors and loud prints sometimes.

I mean, these are the clothes that mom would pick for the kids. And the kids easily go along because the clothes fit and feel just right.

How cool does this kid look? When my son put this on, my photographer turned to me and said, “he is ready for the coffee shop downtown now.” He is clearly too cool for school… and I think he knows it!

You may have already noticed the adorable shoes my kids have been wearing in these pictures. Yep, they are tiny Allbirds. Allbirds came out with their first kid shoe collection for the holidays last year. That collection featured just one style in a few colors and was only available for the smallest feet. I grabbed them for my youngest and he wore the cozy, wool shoes all winter long. “Smallbirds” (as the kid collection has been called) is back just in time for back-to-school season. Not only does Allbirds now offer several kid shoe styles in many colors, they have shoe sizes from 5T all the way up to 3Y. Now, the older kids can get in on the foot action. There are finally Allbirds for everyone!

We love Allbirds for many reasons. First and foremost, they are washable. If anyone is going to need washable sneakers, it’s the tiniest of humans who manage to get into the biggest of messes. These shoes will last. Usually I have to throw sneakers out after the kids have gotten them wet one too many times from the weather or a hose or a puddle, and I cannot remove the stink. But, with Allbirds, you can just throw them in the washing machine (remove the laces and the inner sole first) and let them air dry and they are good as new!

We also love Allbirds because they are comfortable. Allbirds have been called the “world’s most comfortable shoe” and for good reason. Battling to get the kids dressed, shoes on, out the door and in the car is a real struggle every morning. If my kids actually want to put on their shoes, that makes my life a heck of a lot easier. I also love the slip-on style because my kids (especially the little guy) love to put on their own shoes. And one less job for mama in the morning is a win!

And lastly, we love Allbirds because they are sustainably made and good for the planet. The little ones know that they have to take care of our home to enjoy it. Allbirds revolutionized using renewable materials to make sneakers nearly a decade ago. Since then, other companies have followed suit. And the smarter manufacturing practices we have, the better we all are!

Our future generations thank you, Allbirds!
