Fitness Finds for the Holidays Vol. 3: Buy from These LOCAL Small Businesses this Season

As always, shopping local this time of year is a great way to go. And all of these options have origins on the Main Line or in the Philadelphia area. We have such talent out here so why not support our neighbors!

These adorable pouches are free when you purchase $100 or more from Wear For Good Clothing. See below.

Wearable Weights: My favorite wearable weights are the Athletic Laces, created by Main Line resident, Jay Ciccarone. They come in a variety of weights and colors. I prefer these over the popular Bala Bands because I find them to be way more comfortable to wear on your wrists. That’s because the weight is more evenly distributed and the soft outer layer on this weight is super comfortable. Wearable weights should be worn on the wrists for most activities. By simply adding a pound to each wrist for any activity, you increase your cardiovascular performance. These weights are even sold on Chewy.com because people use them when they walk their dogs (and they are safe for the dogs if your feisty pup decides to use one as a chew toy). Shop the Laces here.

Performance Bands: I also love the Munki Performance fabric bands, which were created by Patrick Diesel in West Chester. Patrick is a Pro Strongman and was named the Strongest Man in PA two times. He also holds a world record for powerlifting… No big deal! Patrick is a NSCA Personal Trainer and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. He created these premium performance bands to be effective for all ages and types of athletes. Fabric bands are the updated, improved version of the latex resistance bands. Fabric is better to use for hot classes because it won’t stick to your sweaty legs. These bands don’t snap like the latex ones. Munki Performance Bands hold their resistance way better so they last longer. I love the colors and strength of these. The heavy bands are really heavy! You can purchase the bands here and use code Brooke10 for 10% off your order.

Wear For Good PJ’s. These are my favorite rest day pajamas not just because I love the colorful prints. These pj’s are just about the softest, most luxurious pajamas I have ever owned. They are made with the same fabric blend as popular baby brands such as Kissy Kissy. Two other things I absolutely love about Wear For Good: The brand is local— designed in Devon by the ladies at Corle + Hand. And with every purchase, 15% of the proceeds go directly to the charity designated for that product. These pajamas benefit The Speedy Foundation, which raises awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. So you can feel good about every part of these pj’s! Right now, you can grab these pajamas for 20% off (the entire site is 20% off), free shipping, and a free pouch with $100 purchase.

I am wearing the men’s version of the Obleceni Kaleidoscope sneakers. Both the men’s and women’s versions of this particular sneaker run small (not all of Bungee’s sneakers run this small) so I recommend sizing up in the Kaleidoscopes. I am a true size 9 but am wearing a size 8 in the men’s shoe here. And I would be a size 10 in the women's Kaleidoscope sneaker.

Bungee Brand Sneakers and Apparel. I’ve been eyeing these funky and unique Obleceni Kaleidoscope sneakers for some time. I got to put them on my feet when Bungee Brand founder, Darrell Alston, was at Vive G. Shoes in Wayne a few weeks ago. Alston, who grew up in Paoli, went to Conestoga High School and now lives in Malvern, created these sneakers that are blowing up all over the country. He was recently at Foot Locker in King of Prussia where a crowd of 200+ waited in line to get his sneakers. Darrell’s creations come with an awesome comeback story of second chances and a solider on attitude. And his sneakers are pretty freaking cool, even for a Main Line mom like me :). Check out Bungee Brand here.

Boston Scott Golf Apparel. Originated in Collegeville, this new golf apparel brand makes casual golf clothes that are stylish, a bit funky and performance focused. The line includes golf clothes for men, juniors (to match dad) and now, ladies. You can check them out in person (as well as their traveling shopping van) at Cornerstone’s First Annual Holiday Stroll in Wayne on December 4 from 10 am to 3 pm. Mark your calendar! Right now, when you buy 3 items, you get a 4th item for FREE.

Club & Court Tennis Clothes. I just wrote a whole post about the new resort collection from Club and Court. But any of C&C’s classic, sporty and feminine tennis designs, which were created by Lara Evans and Kristin Nevins right here in Bryn Mawr, would make a great gift. And when you spend $250, you get a free pouch in the Club & Court signature bespoke print.

This is the bespoke print.

GIFT CARDS FOR SERVICES:

A few of my favorite spots on the Main Line and in the Phildelphia area offer great gift packs. I would be thrilled to receive gift cards to any of these spots (hint, hint). And they make great additions to a stocking.

Also, most studios and gyms can provide a gift card for a certain number of workouts, as well. Message me at fitnessfindsonthemainline@gmail.com if you need recommendations for a workout.

1. Kika Stretch. Purchasing a Kika Stretch gift pack is the perfect gift for someone who loves to workout or someone who just loves to stretch (my husband). I’m the worst at stretching on my own so I value my stretch sessions at Kika. Don’t forget to tell them that I sent you. 11/26 through 11/29, they are offering this special: Buy one 45/60 minute 10-pack and get one free stretch session.

2. The Juice Philly. My monthly membership to The Juice Philly makes eating healthy easier for me when I am on the go. Five fresh juices are delivered to my doorstep every week and I get to select my flavors the week before. Flavors like Mint Matcha, Beets + Berries and Pineapple Mint are just some of my favorites. They are absolutely delicious and the health benefits are extraordinary. You can sign up for a membership or individual juice orders here and use my code: BROOKE10 for 10% off your order.

3. Private Yoga Session. I recently had a private yoga session with Lisa Werny, the owner of Evolve Yoga and Beyond, and realized the valuable gains from this one-on-one session. Not only was the “class” tailored to my specific needs (hip openers and hamstring work), but having the instructor dialed into my form and abilities will improve my yoga practice well beyond the 60 minutes of the session. Purchase one private yoga session for $90 or 5 sessions for $450.

4. Bungee Class at Pop-Fit. If you are looking for unique fitness classes, Pop Fitness studio in Havertown is your place. This studio was one of the very first places in the country to offer the gravity defying, Bungee Workout. The studio also has all sorts of fun and different ways to change up your fitness routine. They recently had a roller-skate event in their studio. You can purchase credits to use towards all of their classes at 30% off from now until Cyber Monday. (Certain classes cost more credits, like Bungee. Virtual classes are always offered and use up less credits— but you can’t do Bungee virtually).

5. Restore HLC. Restore Health and Longevity Center in Wayne offers so many services that a gift card to the center is the perfect gift for anyone looking to get healthier in the new year. Whole body cryotherapy (my fav), local cryotherapy, infrared sauna, hyperbaric chamber therapy, shockwave therapy, massage therapy, compression/lymph therapy, infusion therapy, and PEMF therapy are just some of the many services available at Restore HLC. Right now, all gift cards are 20% off.
